Maria Wolff is an organization of Day Care Centres specialized in the treatment of people suffering from mild cognitive impairment to severe dementia.

Within the very centre of the metropolitan area of Madrid , Maria Wolff runs two units for mildly affected people and two units for people with moderate to severe dementia.

Maria Wolff Foundation on the other hand is mainly devoted to clinical research of non pharmacological interventions, usually combined with standard medical care. We perform multicentrical trials , research in MW premises, reviews, and other. Together with ADI Maria Wolff Foundation has organized the first International Consensus Conference for Non Pharmacological Therapies for Alzheimer's

In 2000 Maria Wolff presented the Responsiveness to Therapy Model. A theoretical model that predicts that different domains reduce the responsiveness to non pharmacological therapies at differing rates.

Whereas cognitive responsiveness diminishes very soon, motor responsiveness is preserved up to the end stages of dementia. Basic functioning, Mood and Behavior are lost somewhere in between. As the overall responsiveness to Non Pharma Interventions diminishes, care and environmental management becomes more important.
